ONA Insurance
As part of the Ontario Nurses' Association's vision and commitment to Members' economic and general well-being, ONA sponsors the ONA Benefit Program as an important service to our membership. The ONA Benefit Program offers a wide range of plans that provide access to insurance coverage that will help protect members' income as well as their family's health and security. The ONA Benefit Program is comprised of two main plans: ONA Base Plan and ONA Voluntary Plan. Click on the following titles to learn more.

ONA Base Plan
The program provides all members with a Base Plan which includes HIV Indemnity. It also provides a Long Term Disability benefit for members without an employer long term disability plan. The Base Plan is provided to you through your union dues.
ONA Voluntary Plan
A collection of plans that go beyond what our Base Plan offers to suit your individual needs.

Special Notice: 60-Day Open Enrollment
You can automatically enroll in the Health Plans, without providing evidence of good health, and in the Dental Plan without restriction, if you apply within the eligibility period as follows:
- Within 60 days of when you first receive this offer as a new member
- Within 60 days of the loss of coverage from your employer due to change in employment status, or due to retirement, as long as you were actively at work on the day you lost your coverage
- Within 60 days of the loss of coverage from your spouse's employer plan.
You can apply for Health and Dental coverage after the eligibility period, however, you will need to provide evidence of good health for Extended Health and your Dental maximum will be restricted for the first 12 months of coverage.
