Workshop Length: One Day
Purpose: To increase participant awareness of rights and responsibilities in relation to Workers Safety Insurance.
Focus:
- The components of a health and safety system
- How to recognize insurable (compensable) injuries
- The services and benefits available to workers
- How a claim is filed
- The responsibilities of employers and workers with respect to workplace injuries
- A general overview of appeal deadlines for Workers Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) and Workers Safety Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT)
- The re-employment obligation under WSI
- Early and Safe Return to Work
- Basic principles of accommodation and labour market re-entry
- Basic understanding of labour market re-entry
Who Should Attend: The workshop is designed for general membership and ONA representatives, Return to Work representatives, occupational health and safety representatives, and grievance committee members.
