15 May 08 -- The Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) is pleased to welcome our newest members. On Wednesday, May 14, the RNs at The Westbury Long Term Care Residence in Etobicoke voted to join ONA.We look forward to representing these 32 RNs as our newest Bargaining Unit.

12 May 08 -- The President of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) will join our front-line nurses in celebrating Nursing Week as she crosses the province to attend events.Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN, will attend 16 Nursing Week 2008 events in cities across the province. Also visiting ONA members will be Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN and other board members.
“Nursing Week is such a great opportunity to celebrate our members' critical contributions to the health-care system,” says Haslam-Stroud. “Despite all the challenges our members face, they remain passionate about providing quality patient care, and deserve our thanks and our admiration. From May 12 to 18, nurses will be in the spotlight and we should all take the time to thank them for the work they do.”
Nursing Week activities for ONA members range from special luncheons and dinners to guest speakers and presentations.
ONA is celebrating 35 years of nursing advocacy – a proud past, a powerful future.

In this workshop, the learner will:
- Identify workload issues and evaluate their impact on employees, patients and the employer.
- Use the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice to address workload issues.
- Outline the workload reporting process and fill out workload forms.
- Develop strategies to support members in the workload reporting process.
- Develop an action plan to address workload scenarios and prepare it for presentation to an employer.
This workshop is designed for Unit Representatives, Bargaining Unit leadership, and Front-line members who have workload issues on their units.

In this workshop, the learner will:
- Identify non-code harassment behaviours in the workplace.
- Learn about ONA policies that provide: a) Assistance to targeted members and b) Awareness of behaviours that need correction.
- Identify resources designed to provide support for members.
- Identify steps representatives take to address non-code harassment.
This workshop is designed for Human Rights & Equity Representatives, ONA Representatives and Front-line ONA members.
