Research has proven that registered nurses (RNs) are the best value for our health care system. RNs have a positive impact on patient outcomes. They have the skills and expertise to ensure that patients and prospective patients like me receive the care we need. Thousands of RNs have been cut from health care across Ontario in the last year and a half. RNs have been laid off, hospitals are indefinitely not filling vacant RN positions, and many of those RNs who remain are overworked and feeling burned out by stress because they always have a professional obligation to provide safe, high-quality care. As a voter and a potential patient, I'm concerned. I don't want any further cost-cutting measures at the expense of RNs. Dollar for dollar, RNs improve our lives more than almost anyone. Please value RNs. Don't let hospitals balance their budgets at the expense of registered nurses and high-quality patient care.
