    Under the Constitution, a Bargaining Unit shall have representation for Human Rights and Equity, Negotiations, Labour-Management, Grievances, Occupational Health and Safety, and Workload and Professional Responsibility. We will provide your name and interest to your Local and Bargaining Unit leader to follow up with you.

  • You will gain knowledge of the Collective Agreement, conflict resolution skills, and work with staff in ensuring our Collective Agreement rights are maintained.
  • You will gain knowledge of the Human Rights Code, inclusive communication, conflict resolution and strive for the eradication of harassment, racism and bullying in the workplace.
  • You will gain intimate knowledge of the Collective Agreement, developing and presenting arguments on work life issues on behalf of members. You will increase your skill in thinking outside of the box!
  • Committee members are elected to improve the socioeconomic welfare and quality of work life for all members of the Bargaining Unit through our contract.
  • We are seeking members with a desire to prevent workplace injuries and violence, knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and how to mobilize members to recognize and report potential hazards.
  • Please speak to leadership if you want to protect the standards of our profession, safe staffing, the professional responsibility clause and its application, and the IAC process.
  • You will gain knowledge of the Human Rights Code, Accommodation/RTW legislation and basic health and safety in a RTW.
  • Your aim is to become knowledgeable in the health and welfare benefits offered by the Union and serve as a resource person for your Bargaining Unit.
  • Assist with the electoral process at the Local and Bargaining Unit level. If you are a stickler for details and able to rally people to get out the vote, please let us know.
  • For those with an interest in promoting the profession and engaging members in the Bargaining Unit in creative, dynamic ways to instill pride in our profession.
  • Assist with organizing, mobilizing and advocating on behalf of our members. Sharing a general interest in politics.
  • This is an opportunity to increase knowledge of the Standards under the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and knowledge of the Collective Agreement. Come with a passion for promoting ongoing learning and advancing professional development.
  • You will gain knowledge of the Collective Agreement, scheduling regulations and assistance in developing schedules for our members. You will monitor the employer’s Human Resources applications to ensure the Collective Agreement is followed.
  • Willing to connect with the Bargaining Unit leadership to advocate for ONA members in your unit/program. Directing members to ONA support services. Acting as a positive role model for ONA. Disseminating information to the members on your unit.
  • Provincial Committees (one representative per region)

  • The team’s mandate is to promote ONA’s development as an inclusive and equitable organization and work to improve work environments free from discrimination, harassment and bullying. Team members will represent the five designated groups: Aboriginal descent, disabilities, Francophone, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender (LGBT) and racialized. Team members are appointed for 2 years.
  • The LEAP Advisory Team’s mandate is to review and report on the operations of the plan. This is a 2-year term made through Board appointment in September.
  • The Nursing Week Team promotes the profession, and engages members, Local and Bargaining Unit leaders to get on board in planning events to celebrate Nursing Week. This is an annual appointment with EOIs due by September 1.
  • The Design Team is selected for a 2-year term by Local Coordinators at the October Area Coordinators Conference for each region from among those members who have submitted an EOI form (due by September 1). This is a creative opportunity to provide member input into the development of our Provincial Coordinators Meetings and our Biennial Convention.
  • The Elections Team meets and discusses each year’s election process and may make recommendations to the Board of Directors. This team is elected for a 2-year term by Local Coordinators at the October Area Coordinators Conference for each region from among those members who have submitted an EOI form (due by September 30).
  • This panel is chaired by a past Board member. The work of the panel is to deal with any issues regarding member discipline. Panel members are appointed by the Board for 2 years through the EOI process.
