The Violence Response Toolkit was designed to provide guidance and resources to all workplace parties on how to respond to the risk of violence and actual violent incidents and prevent future incidents. The Toolkit highlights the importance of collaborating with all workplace parties (e.g. workers, unions, Joint Health and Safety Committees/Health and Safety Representatives (JHSCs/HSRs), management) when responding to and addressing violence in the workplace.
This session will:
- Provide information about the legal obligations to respond to violence in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Review the three phases of violence response (immediate response; response support and notifications; investigation and follow-up).
- Review a case study utilizing the toolkit.
- Review how the toolkit was designed to prevent violence.
This teleconnect will be of particular interest to JHSC Representatives, and Bargaining Unit Presidents who are working on addressing violence in their Bargaining units.
Materials and audio from this teleconnect are confidential in nature and will be available on the executive side of the ONA website.
