ONA is seeking members who are high energy, self-motivated and committed activists who are passionate about the work of the union.
Participate in a temporary work secondments to learn the nuts and bolts of ONA and gain valuable experience working in a union environment.
The program consists of intensive ONA labour relations education including:
- Negotiations
- Grievance handling
- Arbitration
- Professional practice
- Health and safety
- and much more!

Sarah Cowin is a Bargaining Unit President at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Local 105 in Region 2. Sarah also has experience on her Bargaining Unit’s negotiation team chairperson. Sarah is excited to join the Member Secondment Program operating out of our Kingston Office.
Raji Grewal is a front-line nurse at St. Michael’s Hospital, Local 95 in Toronto. Raji is currently working on her Master’s in Labour Relations and is looking forward to applying her knowledge and becoming a stronger advocate for her colleagues. Raji will join the South Team.
Neil Jones is joining the program as a Health Care Professional from Health Sciences North, Local 13 in Sudbury. Neil will bring his experience as the Grievance Chair to the Sudbury Office. Neil is looking forward to learning about all aspects of ONA.
Heather Roberts is a social worker who is a passionate advocate for the members at Waterloo Wellington LHIN in Region 4. Heather’s experience as a Bargaining Unit President and Vice-Coordinator has provided her with a strong background on which she can build her knowledge of ONA’s services. Heather will be joining the staff in the Dundas office.
