In Loving Memory: Brian Beattie, RN

May 14, 2020

Brian Beattie, RN, our ONA member who was by all accounts, a devoted and model nurse, was infected with COVID-19 in April while working at Kensington Village long-term care in London.

Brian was loved by his family, co-workers and the residents to whom he was so dedicated. His tragic loss has affected everyone who knew him, as well as Ontario Nurses’ Association members across the province.

Brian’s family has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support since Brian’s death. ONA has also been overwhelmed by kind messages from across the country.

Many ONA members wish to express their sympathy, and others have asked about donating in his memory to a charity supported by the family.

Brian was a devoted dog lover, and his family has designated a local dog rescue charity, a COVID-19 support charity, and the Ontario Regional Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society as recipients of donations. The links to these charities are listed below. In honour of Brian, ONA is making a donation to Second Chance Auction Animals Rescue.

ONA will – in future – formally memorialize Brian. It is important that we never forget those who were sickened or lost their lives while caring for their patients/residents/clients. In the meantime, ONA invites you to leave your condolence messages on our Facebook page, here. We will ensure that Brian’s family receives them. To make a donation in his name, please click on the links below.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to express your kind thoughts. Brian’s family continues to be overwhelmed by your kindness.
