ONA Welcomes New Registered Nurses from Wyndham Manor Long-Term Care Home

December 7, 2018

OAKVILLE, December 7, 2018 – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) is delighted to welcome registered nurses (RNs) from Wyndham Manor Long-Term Care Home to membership in ONA.

“The highly educated, skilled and dedicated RNs who work hard to provide quality care to their residents have voted unanimously to join our union, and we are honoured to represent them,” said ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN. “RNs working in long-term care face working conditions that can impact their ability to provide care that is up to their professional standard, and these RNs have trusted ONA to help them address the understaffing that they face in the workplace.”

McKenna notes that ONA members have access to a wide range of services and expertise, including a Professional Responsibility Clause in their contract that provides a process to address understaffing.

“As the union representing nurses and health-care professionals, our members’ first priority is resident and patient care,” said McKenna. “We look forward to representing our new members from Wyndham Manor Long-Term Care Residence and helping them improve their working conditions so that they can provide the care their residents need and deserve.”

ONA is the union representing more than 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
