Ontario Nurses’ Association Welcomes New Members Westgate Lodge Registered Nurses Unanimously Vote to Join ONA

December 1, 2017

BELLEVILLE – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) is excited to welcome new members to our Union.

Registered Nurses (RNs) working to provide quality patient care to the residents of Westgate Lodge in Belleville have unanimously voted in favour of joining ONA. Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN, ONA President, says she is “honoured that RNs at Westgate Lodge have entrusted ONA to be their voice.

“ONA is the union of choice for nurses and health-care professionals, and we do our very best to be a strong advocate for our members and their patients,” she said. “The vulnerable residents of this 88-bed nursing home need and deserve the high-quality care that our dedicated RNs provide. ONA continues to get loud about the need for more hands-on RN care for nursing homes.”

ONA represents members providing care in all sectors of Ontario’s health-care system.

“Quality care is vital to our long-term care residents,” she says. “Residents of these facilities increasingly suffer from multiple, complex and chronic health conditions that benefit from the skills and experience RNs bring. We are proud to welcome Westgate Lodge registered nurses to ONA and look forward to providing excellent services, representation, better wages, benefits and a higher quality of work life to them,” she said.

ONA is the union representing 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 16,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
