ONA Welcomes New Health-Care Professional Members from Westpark Healthcare Centre

TORONTO – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the union representing more than 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, is delighted to welcome health-care professionals from Westpark Healthcare Centre.

The health-care professionals have become increasingly concerned about short-staffing at the Toronto hospital.

“Our new members take pride in the care they give to their patients and want to provide high-quality care for those who need it,” said ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN. “They contacted ONA after seeing the union stand up for its registered nurse members at Westpark and were keen to become members. We are delighted to give them a voice regarding their concerns with regard to the quality of care they provide, and we warmly welcome them.”

“As the union representing registered nurses and health-care professionals, our members’ first priority is patient care,” said McKenna. “We look forward to representing our new members from Westpark Healthcare Centre.”
